PP2web is a handy new utility program for converting PowerPoint slides to web pages.
Why use it?
If you've already tried and rejected the HTML export option in PowerPoint 7 (Office 98 version) then PP2web will make you think again! If you're using an older version of PowerPoint then PP2web is definitely for you (it supports version 4.0 and later)! PP2web creates fewer files than PowerPoint's built-in HTML export and does a cleaner job of getting your pages to display on a small screens. What's more, PP2web provides you with a range of easy-to-use tools for adding hyperlinks from your converted slides to other web pages and/or multimedia elements such as movies and sounds. You also get a comprehensive set of text and drawing tools for editing your slides prior to export. If you just want to export your slides 'as is', then PP2web's Quick convert will get the job done with a minimum of fuss and gives you the added option of exporting your slides as a QuickTime movie (one slide per frame). PP2web automatically creates all the HTML and JavaScript code required to correctly display your completed web pages in your browser application.
How does it work?
PP2web converts PowerPoint presentations saved as Scrapbook files (select Scrapbook (Pictures) from the Save presentation as: popup menu in PowerPoint's Save dialog) into a file that contains an editable image map of each slide in the presentation. You then add whatever links to files/URLs etc. that you like before exporting the completed file as a series of linked web pages.
Is there anything I absolutely need to know before I start using it?
Yes! You must make sure that your slides measure exactly 20 x 13.34 cm (if your settings are in cm) or 8.34 x 5.56 inches (if your settings are in inches) in the Slide setup (version 4) or Page setup (version 7/Office 98) dialogs in PowerPoint before you save your presentation as a Scrapbook file - these sizes are essential to create web pages that are customized for 14 inch (i.e. 640 x 480) displays! Don't forget to give the Scrapbook file a unique name when you're saving it so as not to overwrite your PowerPoint presentation.

Ok, there's no manual as such but there is a fairly detailed help window that's always accessible from within PP2web - just look under the Apple menu!
Do I need to register PP2web?
PP2web is shareware, so if you want to use it after the 30-day evaluation period you must pay for and register it!
How do I register it then?
Paying for PP2web is fairly simple. Open the Register program that accompanies PP2web. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase (or Site or Word-Wide licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi who handle my payment processing.
PP2web has the following pricing:
1- 5 single user licenses, $15 per user
6+ single user licenses, $12 per user
A Site License costs $175 and covers all locations for your organization within a 160 kilometer radius of your site (100 miles).
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the information to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement.
If you are paying with Cash or $US Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in $US. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-$US checks is around $US 15 per check and that is just not practical.
Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed. Payments sent via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
PP2web has a protection scheme and when you pay, we tell you how to indicate to PP2web that you have paid the registration fee. If you do not have an email address, please enter your complete postal address and please remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.
If you do not have an email address you should consider selecting the Postcard Receipt so that Kagi can inform you of your registration code. Kagi transmits the registration codes via email and paid postcard receipt only.
